Pascal Gaurin’s rise across the Atlantic

Pascal Gaurin seems to have been born to be a perfumer. Indeed, he has always been captivated by the world of scents. Besides, he discovered the world by sniffing everything he found. For the record, his mother even wondered if he was not afraid of being poisoned! Also, it is quite naturally that he oriented himself towards studies of perfumery. Thus, he joined the great international school of perfumery ISIPCA in Versailles and graduated. A year later, he started working at IFF, in its subsidiary based in Hong Kong. There, he made his debut and considerably broadened his olfactory palette. He appropriated perfumery in his most artistic sense and took advantage of it to enrich himself with oriental culture. Then, in 1997, he was offered a position in the same company, in New York, the city of his dreams. Thus, it did not take long to accept this proposal, combining his work as a perfumer with his other passions of music and cinema.

The tastes of Pascal Gaurin

While most perfumers are very fond of floral essences, Pascal Gaurin rather likes resins, sensuality and woody notes. In other words, he is very attracted to dark scents. According to him, this attraction for this style of smells comes from his grandparents, and more particularly from their house in the Creuse. It was surrounded by very dark forests and was continually charged with a sort of smell of humus, mushrooms, leaves and bark.

All these elements thus led Pascal Gaurin to develop famous juices such as Tom Ford For Men or Private Blend for this same house. At the same time, he also worked for Christian Lacroix. He thus seems to have made obscurity his unstoppable recipe to shed light on each person’s personality.
